Who? What? Where?

I was shocked, confused, bewildered
As I entered Heaven's door,
Not by the beauty of it all,
Nor the lights or its decor.

But it was the folks in Heaven
Who made me sputter and gasp--
The thieves, the liars, the sinners,
The alcoholics and the trash.

There stood the kid from seventh grade
Who swiped my lunch money twice.
Next to him was my old neighbor
Who never said anything nice.

Herb, who I always thought
Was rotting away in hell,
Was sitting pretty on cloud nine,
Looking incredibly well.

I nudged Jesus, 'What's the deal?
I would love to hear Your take.
How'd all these sinners get up here?
God must've made a mistake.

'And why is everyone so quiet,
So somber - give me a clue.'
'Hush, child,' He said, 'they're all in shock.
No one thought they'd be seeing you.'

JUDGE NOT!!

Remember...Just going to church doesn't make you a

Christian any more than standing in your garage makes you a car.

I agree...

Kelly Combs is going to pee her pants when she sees me...

No Sir! I'm sure KC gets it.

..I mean when she sees me walking the streets of gold.

LOL! This was great! And so true. I know people who go to church way more than I do and consider themselves catholics and the things they do and say...They think they are forgiven because they cross themselves when we pass a church! Great post!

Never judge a book by it's cover.

Hey Christiejolu..

I see you have 'Christ' in your name. You know that don't guarantee you Jack-Squat.

Also, I see you own a pitbull. You know what the bible says about folks that own pitbulls, don't you?

Kurt,

I am thankful for the most part I've been able to give up my judging people. Look at the wonderful people I get the opportunity to meet!

In case you get the chance, stop by my blog today for a great opportunity to enter another giveaway I'm doing.

I just loved this post Kurt! It's so true, many of us have a past. I know I do! But it's who I am now in Christ that matters.

God bless you.

p.s. The garage comment reminds me of another one.

I believe in the existance of Bill Clinton, but I am not a democrat.

It's not enough to believe in God, (even the demons do, and shudder!). You have to follow him.

:-)

p.s.s. I am going to use this poem on my blog tomorrow (Wed.), and of course link back to you as the credit.

Thanks for the inspiration.

I'm so thankful to find out I'm not a car. ;)

I know there will be some who will be quite surprised at my presence in Heaven.

It's true we are not to judge (meaning condemn), but we are to be discerning. How will I know if I am walking into an unequally yolked relationship unless I can discern if the man I want to date is a Christian or not? We are expected to be discerning without being condemning.

Good post!

Why does Kelly Combs want me to go to hell?

I remember when I used to think that I was going to heaven but the person sitting next to me was not.

Blasé said...

What does it mean to "follow him"?

KrippledWarrior said...

Dewd, No one wants you in hell. Not Kc. Not even God. I thought you said you read the bible!

Great stuff! And so true!

Blasé - there's only one guy who wants you in hell - you know that.

Edie said...

KW - Just in case there is any doubt, I loved your poem. :)

Blase - Follow Him means trust Him enough to let Him be the boss of you.

@ Edie: Thanks for stepping up to the plate, but I'd be willing to bet that if nine other folks had answered my question, that there would have been 10 different answers.

KC took my Bill Clinton response.

P.S. Hope I don't need to use my ax. (wink)

I've known CK for quite some time...obviously.

I can say without a doubt that she doesn't want anyone to go to hell.

On the other hand, she may hope that she is allowed to choose who sits in the desk next to hers.
