A Crucifixion. Or a Cruci-fiction?

The other night I was watching TV, as is my usual. And as I "Channel Surfed" past CNN Entertainment I heard the word "Crucifixion." I was almost to The Fox News Channel before the word broke through to my "Alarm Bells." Click, click, click. Back to CNN. And there in High Def splendor was the image of Lindsay Lohan shown above. The Entertainment reporters AJ And Brooke were remarking that Ms Lohan had crossed the line by posing as Jesus Christ, on thecover of the French Fashion magazine "Purple."
They further added that the Leader of The Catholic League,  Bill Donohue, was demanding Lindsay to apologize. AJ, Brooke and a couple of guest rumor mongers all concurred. Although they all professed to being either non-Christians or Jewish, they were all offended.
Well let me see if I can offend them also! (You are also free to be offended by everything I say. Welcome to America).
Since a picture is worth a thousand words. You may take the above picture to mean anything you want. But please, tell me how this looks like Christ on the Tree of Woe? Where are the cuts and bruising from the scourging? Where are the nails and blood? WHERE IS THE CROSS?
The commentators went on to say "She was dressed in white, Just like Jesus. Well folks check your bibles, John 19:23-24 says: "
23When the soldiers crucified Jesus, they took his clothes, dividing them into four shares, one for each of them, with the undergarment remaining. This garment was seamless, woven in one piece from top to bottom.
24“Let’s not tear it,” they said to one another. “Let’s decide by lot who will get it.”

Jesus was naked. Stripped of all clothes and dignity. He was sentenced to suffer death in the most grotesque and humiliating way known at that time. So while you may find the picture of Lindsay Lohan reprehensible, offensive and in poor taste. I see a picture of a woman in a white jumpsuit, showing you how big the fish she just caught was. Get off the "Victim List." Since when did CNN Entertainment News become the protector of Christian Rights? A time of great persecution may or may not happen in your lifetime. But this ain't it. And this isn't how it starts.

Anything for a headline.

Kurt,

Its funny how quickly they will jump to anything being religiously offended and yet won't take about religion anyway. One is ok to talk about and the other well I guess not.

Well said, my friend, well said!

I can't fathom where the comparison came from to begin with. Slow celebrity news day?

In this, I see Lindsey's version of LOST, as in her saying "this is how lost I am".

I see you and I were on the same page today- the television topic page :)

Perhaps I joke around a bit too much over at my page- maybe too sarcastic at times. Anyway, after thinking about it a little bit, but not as much as I maybe should, my short answer to your comment inquiry is: I think the world we are not to love is the world system. (Different from the creation- the world God made for his enjoyment and pleasure, the one that we marvel at and that teaches us how big and wise and wonderful he really is. The creation that includes people and therefore encompasses relationships.)

The world's organized system, that leaves God out of everything- ruled by Satan- that is just everywhere! Sometimes blatant, sometimes subtle.

Christ came to save the world- as in the people of the world, or His creation- of which we are a part. As for the world system- I was trying to look it up and couldn't find it earlier, but I think God gave Satan reign over that world. Don't ask me why.

But at my place today, when I made that comment about "I'm livin' a slice of what it feels like to be in the world and not of it", I was kinda making a bit of a crack about the fact that everyone is watching t.v. and I can't. I feel kinda left out, but it's probably better for me anyway. The sad part is: I actually want cable and a big screen with surround sound. Not lovin' the things of the world and not buying in to the philosophies of the world's system is not easy. It's my daily battle.

Did I say that was my short answer? I lied about that. Sorry.

With all the important news that's being ignored or neglected, they wasted a moment on this? I absolutely hate how the media has made celebrities so important.

And this?... as you said so eloquently, it's missing most of the crucial elements in the original scene. *sigh*

Are these the same people that are working their butts off to get rid of the terms Christmas, take the nativity scenes off public property, push any Christian reference out of schools (but not other religions, those the practically gush over in the guise of promoting diverse awareness), or any other restriction and control on Christianity? Now, they are going to take up this stand? hum? sounds more like "anything for a story" to me.

What can I say that hasn't already been said. Clearly that is her attempt at mocking Christ, and it is wrong. But we have all mocked Christ in our lives in some way or another. We are sinners. She is unsaved. She doesn't have the Holy Spirit to teach her.

The man without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned. 1 Corinthians 2:14 (NIV)

She's doing it for the reaction and she got it. I think it's very sad.

Sometimes I think the media adds more to things than should be. I agree with you 100%!

Has nothing to do with whether you ride a harley or dress like a hippie... more like, men in general don't usually show any interest in that stuff, and I thank you for that.

It could be worse. She could have been naked with facial hair.

Boy they certianly are making something out of nothing...there are far more important things going on in the world to be concerned about. I see this simply as Lindsay Lohan trying to get work and her career back on track.

As for Lindsay Lohans personal life, I don't follow her much, but from what I have read, she is lost. For her mental sanity and physical health, I hope she cleans up her life and the people in it.

You are right...they are also historically inaccurate...good point.

"and you stare at me
in your Jesus Christ pose
Thorns and shroud
like you've been carrying
a load
and I swear to you
I would never feed you pain
but you're staring at me
AGAIN."

Oh well, that's between her and Satan.
