A DAY.

11//2/11
5:55 am. Looking out my backdoor.
Facing due East. The mountains in the distance are known as the Cuyamacas.
The Cuyamaca Mountains are a mountain range in San Diego County, California. The mountains run roughly northwest to southeast. The highest elevations are Cuyamaca Peak at 6,512 feet  and Stonewall Peak at 5,700 feet. The San Diego River and the Sweetwater River both rise in the Cuyamacas.

I spent a major portion of my day at the VA, doing Physical Therapy (PT). And Occupational Therapy (OT). Here are some photos from my OT sessions.

This is Elaine. My primary OT

This is Eddie. My secondary OT.
The bird catcher is one of the projects I'm working on, to build my manual dexterity and reestablish my fine motor skills. The parts are all precut. But require sanding, aligning, gluing, clamping and finishing. The Bird Catcher is ready for painting.

This is my first project.  My little red birdhouse. Not much to look at. But a major milestone accomplishment for me. Considering that just over a year ago, I couldn't open my hands.

My current project. A Flower Basket.
Made by  aligning and gluing 76 identical pieces of softwood, into 2 sides (shown here).

And this is what it looks like assembled.
I'm going to leave this unpainted. And get some really manly biker type flowers to dress it up.
These photos were taken with my iPhone.

After I got home, I took my Nikon COOLPIC S570 outback. I will post those photos later.

ALL OF THIS TOOK PLACE IN SAN DIEGO COUNTY, CALIFORNIA. ON THE SAME DAY THAT THE PEOPLE OF EGYPT SUCCESSFULLY CAST OFF THE SHACKLES OF AN OPPRESSIVE GOVERNMENT.
LET FREEDOM RING...

Kurt, these are huge accomplishments, great work!..that basket is so pretty - never seen one like it!

Amazing how far off into the distance you can see - our terrain is too hilly and woodsy for distance.

I just love that basket! It's beautiful. I love the bird-house too. I wouldn't even know where to begin building one. I hope you use it in your backyard. xo

Where I live that would be a perfect bluebird house. they like them about 5 feet off the ground in kind of an open space.

That basket is amazing! That is quite an accomplishment Kurt if you couldn't even open your hands a year ago. Very impressed!

And very jealousy of your backdoor views!
