How big is big?

If you think in terms of size! Exactly how big are you? Ponder this...

Of the inner planets ours is a big world.

But after that. We don't have that much room after all.

Even our star is bigger than we thought.

Or is it?

ANTARES IS THE 15TH BRIGHTEST STAR IN THE SKY.
IT IS MORE THAN 1000 LIGHT YEARS AWAY.
NOW HOW BIG ARE YOU?
------------------------------------------------------------------

NOW TRY TO WRAP YOUR MIND AROUND THIS..... .
In 1932 Astronomer Edwin Hubble discovered that the multiple Nebuli in the sky were made up of  Galaxies. In 1990, We launched a space telescope named after Mr. Hubble, to view those things we can't see from our planet's surface. In 1996 We saw the Hubble Deep Field pictures.

THIS IS A HUBBLE TELESCOPE ULTRA DEEP FIELD INFRARED VIEW OF COUNTLESS
'ENTIRE' GALAXIES BILLIONS OF LIGHT-YEARS AWAY.

In the darkest part of the series they found 3,000 galaxies, each one containing billions of stars like our Sun. It turned out the Hubble Space Telescope is a time machine. Using a measure called a Standard Candle, Astronomers have determined that the light from those galaxies is 13.7 billion years old.

HUMBLING, ISN'T IT?

And yet, Someone knows how many hairs are on your head,

and not even a single sparrow dies apart from His will (Mt 10:29-31)!

NOW HOW BIG ARE YOU?

AND HOW BIG ARE THE THINGS THAT UPSET YOU TODAY?

KEEP LIFE IN PERSPECTIVE.

AND DON'T SWEAT THE SMALL STUFF!  It's all small stuff.

And, IT'S ALL UNDER CONTROL (Job 38)

  2. Rather mind-blowing, when you stop to think about it.

  3. It was all done with a spoken word. It was actually said by scientist that all creation happened so quickly...as if it were spoken into existence. Gee...I wonder where they got that bright idea???

  4. I'm just a tiny who on a dust speck, basically.

  5. Hae you seen the "How Great is Our God" DVD by Louie Giglo? it's based on what you just said. My husband (being an engineer) loved it. It was so far over my head, I enjoyed it, but didn't "get" it. Men are thinkers and women are feelers. I just love Jesus. I don't care how big all that stuff is. But it made a huge impact on my hubby, so gotta like that.

How are you? Have a great day!!!!

  6. WOW, Kurt... although I've probably heard this in high school and college, it never really sank in.. the MAGNITUDE!... and today this was especially poignant.

  7. Hi Kurt, Thanks so much for stopping by and following my blog. What a wonderful blog you have here and what a thought to ponder. We are, in fact, very small. We also tend to be the center of our own worlds so our problems seem so great. If we tune in to others and share, we actually become much bigger. We are small, but love, God and light are BIG! Peace to you, Kathy

  9. Thanx Kurt - you have a way of putting things into perspective....
GOD is AWESOME and it's amazing to think that He created us in our "tinyness".... wow, and we get to spend eternity in HIS kingdom - can you imagine how spectacular that's going to be????

    God Bless!

  10. Not only are we that small, but in the expanse of time we are not even a blip. And yet God knows us, deeply, intimately, He cares for each and everyone of us... and He takes the time to reach out to us and say, "I am willing".

Thank you for sharing this brother.
